Avocetta publishes peer-reviewed original research, meta-analyses, reviews and short communications in a variety of ornithological fields including ecology, behavioural ecology, ethology, phylogeography, taxonomy, biogeography, and conservation. Although we accept contributions from any region of the world, the journal’s main target attains to the Palearctic bioregion.
Founded in 1953, Avocetta has been regularly published since 1978 by the CISO (Centro Italiano Studi Ornitologici). Avocetta does not charge publication fees to authors and is therefore a “diamond open-access” journal.
Since 2022, the journal is published exclusively online to guarantee the fastest editorial process and worldwide accessibility. In 2023, we opted for continuous publishing to further fasten the availability of accepted manuscripts.
As an open-access journal, AVOCETTA provides a unique opportunity to publish high-quality contents that will be internationally accessible to any reader at no cost.
We trust in open-access science: authors publishing with Avocetta retain the copyright to their work, under the Common-Creative Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license.
